On Wednesday, Joe Burrow publicly addressed the burglary that occurred at his home and his dismay over the amount of information that has been revealed about the situation.
The Bengals quarterback’s home was burglarized on Monday night while Burrow was in Dallas for a nationally televised game against the Cowboys.
“So obviously everybody has heard what has happened,” Burrow said in a statement after the team’s practice. “I feel like my privacy has been violated in more ways than one. And way more is already out there than I would want out there and that I care to share, so that’s all I got to say about that.”
The news of the break-in would have been enough to make headlines, as Burrow became the latest NFL player to have his home broken into while they were out playing in a game.
But the story took a twist when the incident report revealed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Olivia Ponton was the one who called authorities about the incident.
While speaking about the break-in, Burrow indicated that the amount of personal information that had made its way into public was part of what he had been frustrated about.
“That’s part of it. We live a public life and one of my least favorite parts of that is the lack of privacy,” he said. “And that has been difficult for me to deal with my entire career. Still learning. But I understand it’s the life that we choose. Doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.”
Burrow didn’t provide any details or updates about the situation.

Documents obtained by TMZ stated that Ponton called in the burglary around 8:14 p.m. and told officers that when she arrived at Burrow’s Cincinnati-area residence she saw a “shattered bedroom window and the room ransacked.”
The nature of Burrow and Ponton’s relationship remained unclear, and she was listed in the police report as being “employed” by Burrow.
In October, the homes of NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had been broken into while the Chiefs had been playing on “Monday Night Football.”
