Join Mosaic Theater Company of D.C. for the kickoff of its 2026–27 season and the premiere of four original short works reflecting on living and creating in Washington, D.C., during a year of occupation. The works are by Ty’Ree Hope Davis, Raghad Makhlouf, navi, and Elena Velasco.
This summer, Mosaic commissioned these four local artists to create original works reflecting on life in Washington, D.C., during the past year—a period marked by the ongoing National Guard occupation, the persistence of a militarized police state, continued ICE raids, and more.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion with the artists, moderated by Derek Goldman, artistic and executive director of Georgetown’s Laboratory for Global Performance & Politics and creator of Mosaic’s 2024 production The Art of Care.
In addition, acclaimed playwright and performer Paige Hernandez will share a preview of her Mosaic commission, 7th Street Echo, which will premiere at Mosaic in 2027. The cast of Brian Quijada’s Somewhere Over the Border, opening at Mosaic in September, will also perform.
