The result is a small bite of cheesy biscuit mixed with browned sausage and it’s so comforting and yummy tasting. I love sausage balls as they are easy to mix up, and so versatile. You could add other add-ins like chives, cream cheese, or perhaps come up with a dipping sauce like ranch or BBQ sauce.

These are perfect for the holidays and can also be a great make-ahead breakfast. Sausage balls store easily and are delclious reheated throughout the week. You could also prep the mixture, roll up a bunch for a party, freeze them, and bake when when ready to entertain. They also can travel well for potluck parties!

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Prep a large sheet pan with parchment paper.

To a stand mixer, add the sausage, biscuit mix with seasoning packet, and the cheese. Mix until combined.

Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to roll out the sausage balls and place them on the baking sheet.

Bake them in the oven for about 20 minutes until browned and cooked through. Tip: I  used an instant-read meat thermometer to make sure these were cooked to 165 degrees.

Place them on a cooling rack to cool, and enjoy!

  • Do you need gluten-free sausage balls? Buy the gluten-free Cheddar Bay mix!
  • I noticed that some people love to add cream cheese for a richer taste and to add moisture. That could be fun to experiment with!
  • This was so quick and easy to make using a stand mixer. I highly recommend it for ease to use it if you have one. Maybe a potato masher or wooden spoon would work instead.
  • Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to roll consistent sized sausage balls
  • Consider lining your sheet pan with parchment paper for easy cleanup afterward! I do love using my Caraway bakeware as it’s nonstick.
