Cher and Dick Van Dyke evacuate their Malibu homes amid ‘very dangerous’ Franklin wildfire
Cher and Dick Van Dyke evacuated their Malibu mansions as the Franklin fire continues to grow and burn down homes.
The “Marry Poppins” star, 98, announced via Facebook that he and his wife, Arlene, fled their estate along with their animals on Tuesday.
“Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo escaped as we were leaving,” he wrote. “We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires.”
Van Dyke — whose 99th birthday is on Friday — later followed up with an old video of his missing cat, writing, “Hoping Bobo is OK.”
Cher, 78, and her pets, meanwhile, checked into a hotel on Monday night, her publicist told the New York Times.
Actress Barbra Steisand, 82, also resides in Malibu, though her rep didn’t know her whereabouts as of Tuesday, per the outlet.
Reps for the trio weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
As of Tuesday afternoon local time, the Franklin fire has burned up to 2,800 acres since breaking out on Monday night in the beach neighborhoods of Los Angeles, according to Cal Fire.
It is zero percent contained and several structures have been burned, though no injuries or deaths have been reported, USA Today reported.
The blaze was fueled by roaring Santa Ana winds and low humidity conditions, but a cause has yet to be determined, per the outlet.
A red flag warning is expected to be in place until Wednesday with the National Weather Service reporting 45 mph winds and 65 mph gusts.
Fires have devastated Malibu before with the Woosley Fire in November 2018 burning down Miley Cyrus and her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s multimillion-dollar estate.
“My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong,” the “Flowers” songstress wrote on X at the time.
“I am one of the lucky ones. My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that’s all that matters right now,” she added.
Neil Young, Robin Thicke and Gerard Butler also lost their homes in the fire.
