East Hampton Oceanfront Estate Sells for $72M

As the ice has finally started to thaw, so too has the luxury market in the Hamptons.

One of East Hampton’s prime oceanfront estates sold on Friday for $72 million in the priciest deal of the year on the East End. The 3.6-acre estate at 43 East Dune Lane had been on the market since June 2024, when it was asking $120 million, making it the most expensive listing in the Hamptons at the time. It was last asking $84.9 million.

Behind the Hedges first reported the sale

The seller was Ann Tenenbaum, who owned the home with her husband, private equity pioneer Thomas H. Lee. Lee died in February 2023, prompting Tenenbaum to list it.

Originally built in 1910, the 11,000-square-foot main residence has 10 bedrooms, 12 full baths, 15-foot ceilings, a private grotto, and a heated 24-by-58-foot oceanside pool. The estate also has over 200 feet of ocean frontage, a 1,500-square-foot guest studio and tennis court.

The home was originally part of an even larger 80-acre estate owned by ink manufacturer Frank Wiborg. Lee and Tenenbaum bought their piece of the property from Lee Radziwill, the sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and film director Herbert Ross for $16.2 million in 2001. Lee and Tenenbaum rebuilt the home twice, including after a fire in 2013 caused by a basement light fixture.

The sale this year comes after an active 2025 for the Hamptons luxury market. Median prices in the Hamptons hit a record $2.3 million in the fourth quarter, and the three-month period saw a record 82 homes sell for over $5 million.
Last year, the priciest home sold in the Hamptons was at 408 Further Lane, where developer Len Blavatnik bought an eight-and-a-half-acre property for $115 million.
