Environmental Conservation Police Statistics for 2023-2025


In 2025, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Division of Law Enforcement fielded an estimated 101,169 calls.
These resulted in Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ECOs) and Investigators across the state responding to more than 35,575 complaints.
They worked on cases that resulted in 15,673 tickets or arrests for violations ranging from deer poaching to solid waste dumping, illegal mining, the illegal pet trade, excessive emissions violations, and more.
In 2024, ECOs and Investigators responded to more than 30,109 complaints. These responses, which are documented as missions, cases, and patrol activities, resulted in 15,755 tickets or arrests for violations of environmental laws, including illegal dumping, deer poaching, and illegal mining. The Division of Law Enforcement fielded a total of over 105,717 calls during the year.
In 2023, the Division of Law Enforcement fielded more than 101,500 calls, resulting in ECOs and Investigators across the state responding to more than 30,932 complaints and working on cases that resulted in nearly 16,900 tickets or arrests for violations.
