Knicks to host playoff watch party outside of MSG

The New York Knicks are hosting a free watch party for game three of the first round of the NBA playoffs. While the team plays the Pistons in Detroit on Thursday night, Knicks fans can still head to Midtown to watch the games on giant screens outside of Madison Square Garden. The team heads into tonight tied 1-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Located at Plaza 33 on 33rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenue, the viewing party is free and open to the public.
Expect appearances from Knicks alumni (like Latrell Sprewell, Stephon Marbury, and Larry Johnson), giveaways, and photo-ops.
No pre-registration is required. The party will start at 6:30 p.m. ahead of tip-off at 7 p.m. Bring a blanket, as folding chairs are not permitted, and pack food and drinks (but no alcohol). Oversized bags are also prohibited.

To kick off the Knickerbockers’ playoff run, the team hosted a Playoff Palooza last week at Brookfield Place in Battery Park City, a Fan Plaza presented by Dunkin, and an outdoor watch party on 33rd Street.
If you can’t make it to the block party, several New York City bars will become playoff hubs, offering all games with full sound, Knicks swag, and drink specials. See the list of bars here.
Plaza 33 is a pedestrian plaza in the heart of the Penn District that opened last year. Designed by MNLA, the space provides a public space with trees, seating, and lighting right next to Penn Station. The outdoor plaza offers free events, music, and workshops throughout the year and is surrounded by several new restaurants and retail stores.
