Netflix’s Julia Haart Sells Penthouse at 70 Vestry for $57M

The southern penthouse at 70 Vestry has lived many lives.
It served as the backdrop to a Netflix reality show. Later, it became entangled in a divorce between the show’s star and her now ex-husband.
Now it has a new claim, as one of downtown’s most expensive condos after trading for $57 million on Friday, according to public records.
The final number falls short of the recent new record set by financier Harsh Padia’s condo at 150 Charles, which sold for $60 million last summer.
The penthouse at 70 Vestry was listed for $65 million in November after the seller, reality star Julia Haart, won the home after a messy three-year divorce from Italian entrepreneur Silvio Scaglia.
Modlin Group’s Adam Modlin had the listing.
Scaglia bought the apartment for $55 million in 2018. He appeared as Haart’s estranged husband during the second season of Netflix’s “My Unorthodox Life,” which showed Haart and her children living in New York City after leaving an Orthodox Jewish community in the Hudson Valley.
The massive penthouse also made an appearance. Spanning 7,800 square feet, the 16-room condo covers three floors and has a private elevator, two chef’s kitchens, five bedrooms and five full bathrooms. It also has more than 3,600 square feet of terrace.
Haart landed the condo after a judge granted her a default judgment in the divorce at the start of last year.
While the proceedings were ongoing, the home rented for $125,000 in 2022.
The sale is downtown’s latest big deal after a number of developments along the West Side have attracted wealthy buyers for condos asking well beyond the recent record closings.
In December, a buyer at Zeckendorf Development and Atlas Capital Group’s 80 Clarkson agreed to pay $129 million for multiple units. The deal has yet to close, while a penthouse at Aurora Capital’s 140 Jane Street asking $87.5 million found a buyer last summer.
