The Sixth Annual Great Brant Lake Canoe Race will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Paddlers will begin at Hoyt’s Beach at the north end of Brant Lake (in northern Warren County) and paddle six miles to the town beach on the Mill Pond in the village of Horicon. The race is also a costume contest and paddlers are encouraged to dress their best.
The race begins at 10 am with the award ceremony at 12:30 PM at Horicon Community Center at 6604 Route 8. At 1:30 pm a Kids’ Scavenger Hunt will kick off, following the Brant Lake outlet for 0.5 miles. Parents are welcome to join their paddlers in a boat or to paddle alongside them during the scavenger hunt.
The original Brant Lake Canoe Race began in 1974, operated by dedicated local volunteers. Proceeds will benefit the North Warren Chamber of Commerce, the Bob and Gert Newton
Campership Fund at Camp Read, and the Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s Northern Explorers program.
