The penthouse in the tallest residential tower on the Manhattan East Side waterfront is now available. The first residential tower designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, Sutton Tower rises 850 feet and contains 120 one- to five-bedroom condos with views stretching from the East River to the Atlantic Ocean. The residence with the best view, though, is Penthouse 80, which spans floors 80 and 81 and measures a whopping 9,100 square feet. The duplex just hit the market for $65,000,000.
Taking up two full floors, the penthouse has five bedrooms, six and a half baths, and a south-facing, double-height loggia. Upon stepping off a private elevator, you’re greeted by unreal views of New York City landmarks, from the Empire State Building and Central Park to the George Washington Bridge and beyond.
The gallery leads to the palatial great room (measuring roughly 53 feet by 22 feet), which faces the East River. The 15-foot ceilings and gas fireplace add to the room’s grandness.
On the other end of this floor is the kitchen, equipped with a Statuarietto marble island, custom Italian cabinetry, and Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. Adjacent to the kitchen is a second great room and a formal dining room.
The top floor is home to four bedrooms all with en-suite baths. The primary suite takes up the northwest wing and boasts classic city views. There are two large dressing areas and walk-in closets and two en-suite baths, both with marble accents and Toto Neorest water closets, and one with a skyline-facing soaking tub.
Developed by Gamma Real Estate and JVP Development with Stephen B. Jacobs Group as the architect of record, Sutton Tower, the second tallest residential tower in Midtown East, features no more than three homes per floor, and no more than two units per floor above the 36th floor. Pricing starts at $1.89 million for a one-bedroom, according to CityRealty.
The five-floor amenity suite includes a swimming pool and spa treatment room, a fitness center with training studios, a sixth-floor recreation suite with a game room and sports simulator, and a seventh-floor entertainment suite with a billiards lounge, demonstration kitchen, and screening room.
