Samsung unveils Galaxy Book5 Pro with Intel Lunar Lake CPU, Galaxy AI and Copilot+

A few months ago, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360, now it is following that up with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro. Like its 360 sibling, this one is powered by an Intel Lunar Lake processor with an NPU capable of 47 TOPS.

That enables not one but two AI platforms to run on the laptop – Samsung’s own Galaxy AI features are present, as are Microsoft’s Copilot+. This is the first device in the family to have the “AI Select” function, which is powered by Galaxy AI.

AI Select is similar to Circle to Search – you can circle an image or a piece of text to launch a new search. This feature can also be used to OCR and copy text from images or to scan a QR code. Note that this uses Samsung tech instead of Google (like on Galaxy phones).

All this can be achieved with the touchscreen – the Galaxy Book5 Pro comes in 14” and 16” sizes. In both cases, it’s a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with Vision Booster and an anti-reflection coating.

The NPU is tapped for other tasks too – Photo Remaster can upscale old photos, for example. There is a real-time interpreter function too and Note Assist.

The laptop supports Microsoft’s Phone Link, which is the generic way to connect with an Android phone. Galaxy device owners can use the bespoke features such as Multi Control (use the keyboard and mouse to control phones and tablets), Second Screen (use a tablet as a second monitor) and Quick Share (easily move files, photos and documents between Galaxy devices).

The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro is equipped with a large battery that will last up to 25 hours. If you spend that time watching video, you will enjoy the sound of four speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Samsung enhanced the webcam with Staggered HDR, which combines multiple different exposures into a single image with lots of dynamic range. This is a common feature on smartphones, but it’s rare to see it on a webcam.

Connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 2.1, one USB-A, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD reader.

The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro will launch in South Korea on January 2 (there’s no word on pricing yet). If you sign up to be notified of the launch now, you will get a discount coupon that can be used between January 2 and March 31. The laptop will be available in Gray and Silver colors.
