Creative Labor, Creative Conditions: What Does Abundant Creativity Require?

Panel One: A Look to Our Past

In moments of civil unrest, we often say history repeats itself. Yet we rarely make space to hear from those who lived it and helped shape it. This inaugural panel brings together legendary queer artists and scholars with transformative artists of today for an intergenerational conversation about the echoes between our past and present, the lessons we can carry forward, and the tools that have helped our communities endure and create.

Panel Two: Perseverance in the Present

What does it mean to fight for our humanity while also creating the conditions for our communities to thrive? This panel brings together cultural leaders working today to examine the challenges facing our communities, the work required to meet this moment, and how we continue to build, resist, and persevere.

Panel Three: The Fight for Collective Liberation: No One Is Free Until All of Us Are Free

Collective liberation requires collective action. This closing panel brings together leaders from across sectors and across New England to explore what cross-sector mobilization can look like in practice. While arts organizations have a responsibility to create better conditions for artists within our institutions, that work cannot exist in isolation. We must also fight for the conditions artists and communities need beyond the workplace.
