Compass Parts Ways With Tri-State Christie’s Affiliate

Christie’s International is cutting out a major tri-state affiliate.
The brokerage’s parent company terminated its franchise agreement with Christie’s International Real Estate Group LLC, the arm that served as the exclusive affiliate of the Christie’s brand across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, according to a spokesperson for the parent company.
Compass acquired the Christie’s franchise operation in December 2024 as part of a roughly $450 million deal that also included Chicago-based @properties. As the Windy City’s largest brokerage, @properties acquired the rights to Christie’s brand licensing in 2021, forming @properties Christie’s International Real Estate.
Led by president and CEO Ilija Pavlović, the former Christie’s International Real Estate Group counts around 30 offices and over 1,000 agents, according to its website.
The reasons for the termination weren’t immediately clear.
“Christie’s International Real Estate terminated the franchise agreements of our New York and Northern New Jersey affiliate,” said a spokesman for Christie’s International Real Estate. “This decision was not made lightly; however, it was ultimately in the best interests of the Christie’s International Real Estate brand and our global affiliate network.”
“Christie’s International Real Estate remains fully committed to the New York and Northern New Jersey markets, and we look forward to reestablishing the brand in these markets in the very near future,” the spokesperson added.
