It’s one of the largest newspaper archives in the country and is completely free, with no paywalls or subscriptions needed.

Henry takes listeners behind the scenes of this project, explaining how he and just one other person have digitized centuries of New York stories, from Catskills papers like the Catskill Mountain News and Delaware County Dairyman to high school newspapers on Long Island.

Henry shares expert search tips for researching your family tree, tracking down local history, or just being curious what made headlines on your birthday.

Podcast host Brett Barry reveals some wild finds from the archive (including a desperate 1876 black bear fight).
