The Saranac Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has announced that the organizational recipient of their 2026 Internship Program Award is Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) based in Keeseville, NY.
AARCH will use the $5,000 grant award to sponsor a digital preservation internship through the first half of 2026. The selected intern, Sam Lasher of Lake George, will assist AARCH with the digital preservation of historical files and photographs associated with AARCH’s involvement at Great Camp Santanoni in Newcomb, NY.
As part of his internship, Lasher will have the opportunity to participate in the 2026 cohort of Community Webs training in conjunction with Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York. This training assists public libraries and cultural heritage organizations with projects involving web archiving, digital preservation, and community archiving.
Lasher is a recent graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA, where he studied history and political science. He intends to attend graduate school in the fall in pursuit of a master’s degree in history and archives management.
With a professed love for the Adirondacks and preserving Adirondack history, Lasher has a deep family history in the Adirondacks and looks forward to working with AARCH in promoting better public understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of the Adirondacks’ unique and diverse architectural heritage.
