Samsung Health app update lets you view your medical records, track your medications and food

The latest update to the Samsung Health app is a massive one – it turns it into an integrated platform that allows users to access their health records, manage medications and track their daily food intake.

The app now allows users to access their medical records from clinics, hospitals and major health networks. Samsung has partnered with b.well Connected Health, which works with major Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems in the US (Cerner Health, Epic Systems, Veradigm).

You can see your lab results and vitals in the Samsung Health app. The Health Records feature offers alerts and insights and it can recommend medical tests based on your entire health history. This includes vaccinations, prescriptions, past hospital visits and relevant test results.

This next feature was already launched in the US last year – Medications tracking. You can add medications to your list by scanning the pill bottle with your phone’s camera. The app will show details on dosage schedules, missed doses and other info on the various medications you take (descriptions, side effects, warnings, drug interactions, etc.). Medications tracking is now expanding to South Korea and India.

Samsung Health can also scan the barcode of your food to speed up the process of logging your meals. This helps you track calories and also allows you to view nutrition facts (provided by fatsecret). This feature is launching first in the US and select European countries (France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland) and will expand to more markets later on.
