Former Christie’s International Tri-state Affiliate Joins The Agency

Christie’s International Real Estate’s former tri-state affiliate is joining The Agency.

The Los Angeles-headquartered firm announced Tuesday that it’s adding the brokerage formerly known as Christie’s International Real Estate Group LLC to its fold just over a week after news broke that Christie’s International had terminated its licensing agreement with the company.

The firm, led by Ilija Pavlovic, was the brand’s exclusive representative in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The reason for the split remains unclear, though it comes as Christie’s parent company, Compass International Holdings, faces an antitrust investigation by the New York Attorney General. Compass acquired Christie’s and @properties in late 2024, about a year before it completed its merger with Anywhere Real Estate, creating the nation’s largest residential brokerage conglomerate.

Under its new banner, the firm will operate as The Agency One Rock, a nod to its flagship office at Rockefeller Center, according to a press release.

The addition expands The Agency’s presence in the tri-state area, combining its 2,500 agents with the former Christie’s affiliate’s 1,200 agents across more than 20 offices in Manhattan, Westchester County, the Hudson Valley and New Jersey.

The Agency’s existing regional footprint includes offices in Manhattan, Park Slope, Jersey City, Long Island, the North Fork and Bridgehampton, among others.

Pavlovic launched the affiliate in New Jersey in 2017 and expanded into New York City in 2023, just a year after The Agency debuted in the five boroughs through its acquisition of Triplemint

That same year, the firm added an outpost in East Hampton, though its managing director, Ed Bruehl, previously said the brand’s entrance into the South Fork was “underbranded.” Also in 2023, the company formed a partnership with Shlomi Reuveni’s Reuveni Development Marketing.

A combined Christie’s International Real Estate Group and Reuveni placed 10th in The Real Deal’s latest ranking of the top brokerages in Manhattan with $192 million in sales. The Agency ranked 15th with a volume of $128 million.

After moving into Manhattan, the Agency quickly expanded across the region, including through the addition of a franchise in Bridgehampton, which opened in 2023 and was launched by one of the firm’s top producers, Tyler Whitman, and former Sotheby’s heavyweight, Dana Trotter.

The following year, it also spread to Fire Island through another franchise.
