NYS Archaeological Association Meeting This Weekend

New York State Archaeological Association’s 107th Annual Meeting will be held on April 17-19, 2026 at the Rochester Airport Marriott.  The Association is the primary organization for professional and avocational archaeologists in New York State.

Presentations on prehistoric, Haudenosaunee, historical, military, colonial, African American archaeology, a poster session, vendors, and more are being offered. The keynote will be “Black Agency in the UGRR: History and Archaeology at the Cataract House in Niagara Falls.”

The 2026 conference tour will take place Friday April 17th, 3 pm, at the 1816 Quaker Meeting House in Farmington, NY. There is no cost for the tour, but registration is required.

Founded in Rochester in 1916 by State archaeologist and Seneca Nation member Dr. Arthur Parker, the New York State Archaeological Association has grown to sixteen chapters from Long Island to Buffalo.

Chapters host public lectures, give tours of archaeological sites, and participate in excavation and cataloguing artifacts. The Association publishes three newsletters per year and The Bulletin.
