Applications to participate in Lincoln Center’s Summer Forum (July 9-12) – a four-day convening that will bring together teaching artists, educators, and practicing artists to engage, share, and imagine the future of teaching artistry – are open now through May 16.
Lincoln Center is offering current public educators across New York State who are accepted complimentary access to the event.
This year’s Summer Forum celebrates 50 years of teaching artistry – a field of practicing artists who are also trained as arts educators, which Lincoln Center played a fundamental role in shaping.
The term “teaching artist” was coined at Lincoln Center Institute in 1975 by June Dunbar, Lincoln Center Institute’s first artistic director. Since that time, the field has grown exponentially and its impact realized globally.
Summer Forum brings together an international group of artist-educators to lead experiential workshops, performances, expert panels, roundtables, and social networking events.
Applicants are asked to submit a resume with artistic, teaching and/or work experience, as well as a brief personal statement addressing what they hope to gain from participating in these trainings.
This year’s four-day program includes:
Inquiry-based workshops;
Live performances as part of Lincoln Center’s annual Summer for the City festival;
Conversations around climate impact, wellness, and leadership, explored through the arts; and
A networking reception and breakfast
